The deal between us.

1. Who we are

Protein Outfitters is a marketplace operated by Protein Outfitters LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company based in Bemidji, Minnesota (“we,” “us,” “Operator”). We connect buyers who reserve a share of a named animal, producers who raise the animal, and processors who slaughter, cut, wrap, and store it. Animals sold through the marketplace are processed at a USDA federally inspected, state-inspected, or equal-to plant. Custom-exempt processing is never sold. Institutions may use Donation Depot to receive donated animals on behalf of qualified feeding programs.

2. Agreement

By accessing or using the website, app, or Service, you agree to these Terms of Service and the Refund policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

3. Account

• You sign in with a magic link sent to your email and/or Sign in with Apple. We do not store passwords.
• You must be of legal age to reserve. In the United States that means 18 or older.
• You are responsible for keeping access to your inbox and Apple ID secure. If you lose access, contact us.
• You may delete your account in-app with Delete my account, or by emailing hello@proteinoutfitters.com.

4. Reservations

• A reservation is a commitment to take delivery of a share of a specific animal at a specific processor.
• When checkout is enabled, you pay a deposit at reservation. The listed meat price is hanging weight dollars per pound: the producer’s rate plus Protein Outfitters’ 10% marketplace fee on that rate. Kill, cut, and wrap are set by the processor the producer books and paid at the plant.
• The first paid reservation locks the hanging-weight $/lb for that animal. Later paid reservations on the same animal pay that locked price.
• Until checkout is enabled, we do not collect payment. There is no refund for unpaid amounts.

5. Cancellation and refunds

If the animal does not pass inspection, we refund what you paid. That is the refund rule. We do not offer condemnation insurance, a reserve, or a shared pool. The Refund policy restates this rule and is part of these Terms.

6. Inspection

Animals sold through the marketplace are processed at a USDA federally inspected, state-inspected, or equal-to plant. Custom-exempt processing is never sold. Do not assume every plant is USDA-inspected; look for the inspection type on the listing.

7. Producers and processors

• Producers control their listings, prices, and which processor handles their animals.
• Processors set their own kill fees, processing rates, schedule, and capabilities.
• Buyer deposits are paid by card through Stripe. During launch, card payments are processed through the Stripe merchant account of Stittsworth Meats, an affiliated business, so your card statement may show that name. Protein Outfitters pays producers directly, by check or through Stripe Connect.
• Repeated no-shows, inspection failures, or quality complaints may trigger account review.

8. What you may not do

• Resell platform-purchased meat as a regulated retail product without your own license.
• Bypass the platform on any reservation that started here.
• Misrepresent practices, certifications, or animal identity.
• Use the Service for anything other than buying, selling, processing, or donating livestock and meat as described here.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided as is. We operate a marketplace. Producers raise animals. Processors inspect, slaughter, cut, wrap, and store them. Except for the refund rule in section 5, we do not guarantee hanging weight, timing, or that a reservation will complete.

10. Limitation of liability

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota. To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability to you is limited to the amounts you paid us for a reservation in the prior 12 months.

11. Disputes

Email hello@proteinoutfitters.com first. Disputes that cannot be resolved are subject to binding arbitration in Beltrami County, Minnesota.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be emailed to active accounts and/or posted on this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the update.
